Specific Duties

  1. Once a job has been reviewed by production, the LC will accept the binder from the Project Manager (PM). He/she will complete their own walk-through with the PM and assist in helping set up the job, ready for construction. This will include writing up material lists for every item needed and reviewing special order materials ordered and inputting the schedule into BuilderTrend.
  2. Prior to the start of work, the LC will work together with all critical installers/trade contractors assigned to the project and debug the job, ensuring that all specifications and job conditions have been reviewed.
  3. The LC is responsible for ensuring that communication between Southern MD Kitchen, Bath, Floors, & Design, the customer and the installers/trades are being maintained. Daily communication with all involved is required to ensure smooth production. All transactions will be documented in Buildertrend.
  4. The LC will ensure that routine change orders are communicated to the PM, written up and signed by the customer prior to any work completed outside of the original scope of work.
  5. The PM will update the schedule and percent complete at least weekly. He/she will communicate to the PM the amount of time needed to complete the project weekly so the PM can schedule accordingly.
  6. Weekly meetings must be conducted, and constant communication kept between the LC and PM. This will ensure all parties are prepared for the current and future tasks and any problems are averted/foreseen, so they can be ironed out before they escalate into fires.
  7. The LC is accountable for helping facilitate the collection of progress payments from the customer on a timely basis with the PM.
  8. The LC keeps a track of job labor costs and checks on whether actual costs are exceeding estimated costs in any area. He/she will inform the sales department, the PM, and/or the Director of Production if any items need to be changed in the estimating process to avoid future discrepancies or slippage.
  9. The LC will meet trade contractors at the jobsite or office prior to the trade contractor doing the work, clarify the plans and scope, and verify completeness and acceptability of workmanship.
  10. The LC will help our Director of Production develop standardized methods of installation to ensure consistent craftmanship through-out the company including training other Carpenters and Apprentices.
  11. The LC will be required to attend continuing education seminars and training. Some will be out of state and require air travel and overnight stays. All required training will be paid for by the Southern MD Kitchen, Bath, Floors, & Design.
